ESOS is a mandatory energy assessment scheme administered by the Environment Agency for organisations in the UK that meet the qualification criteria. Organisations that meet the criteria must carry out ESOS assessments every four years. For details and ESOS guidance please go to: -

ESOS applies to large undertakings i.e. a UK company employing more than 250 people or that has an annual turnover in excess of 50 million euro (£39,937,777.) and an annual balance sheet total in excess of 43 million euro (£33,486,489.) or if you are an overseas company with a UK registered establishment which has 250 or more UK employees paying income tax in the UK. If you qualify for ESOS but have ISO 50001 then you have no need to undertake an assessment however, if you don’t have this, then you must carry out an ESOS Assessment which will help you work out what your organisation needs to do to comply with ESOS regulations and Article 8 of the EED.
